Turkish Airlines - Turkish cheating its customers on a request to change flight date because of medical reasons
My husband booked a roundtrip from SFO->DEL via Turkish. He flew from SFO->DEL but is unable to take the return flight from DEL->SFO as planned as his dad is in serious condition in ICU after a stroke.
We talked to global call center and filled up the feedback request with all medical proofs as suggested to request a change in flight which was denied. I talked again and was told to submit a new form again with all the necessary proofs and paper work which was again sent the same canned response denying the request. The round trip cost of the ticket was around 1460$, but I am being asked to pay about 960$ to change the flight to 2 weeks later. I was told that it is because of the fare difference and change fee, when the fare for the original date and the date we are changing to is exactly the same.
Even if they charge me 135$ in change fee, they should not fleece us by pretty much charging us the price of one way ticket again.
Can the best European airlines be that unfair to its customers.
In times of need like this, instead of being considerate Turkish is trying to be opportunistic and fleecing its customers. I request Turkish airlines to please look into my request and treat their customers fairly.

What don't you understand about a "nonrefundable" ticket. If you want to change your tickets, you should buy refundable tickets.
The $960.00 sounds reasonable for an international flight change. First the change fee is $135.00, leaving $825.00 for the difference in the price of the ticket. When you say it is the same, I assume that you mean it is on the same day of the week, because it obviously is not the same date as the original. A) For instance a ticket on a Friday 2 weeks before Thanksgiving is not going to cost anywhere near what a ticket the Friday [day after Thanksgiving] will cost even though the flights are on the same day of week.
B) Also, the closer to flight time you buy the ticket, the higher the price.
You are not buying a ticket weeks in advance like your original ticket, but one that is perhaps a week or two away. The difference between the cost of that return ticket and the cost paid for your original return ticket is going to be high.
